This is our Baltimore, and we want you to have a nice day.

“Walking into a Have a Nice Day event is like walking into a warm hug…

It may sound cheesy, but it's the truest words to describe this movement of people coming together with the sole intention to create art to brighten a stranger's day. The best thing is, whether you're a great artist or not (I'm not), there is such a feeling of solidarity when drawing unknown and inspired lines, adding color and inspirational words to decorate a plain coffee sleeve. It feels a lot like the sand art that is created and then blown away; the difference being that the adorned sleeve goes to someone for a brief time, and then who knows. It doesn't matter. What matters is the creating and the community co-creating to do so.”

“When Jessica approached me a few years back about an amazing idea, I immediately said, tell me more.

Her idea was simple, let’s do something to make people smile and hope that smile lasts all day.

The first one was small and only a few of us attended. We all laughed and smiled while we thought of positive messages for the sleeves. Fast-forward a few more years, and The Have a Nice Day project has grown in size and in Heart. If you know Jess, you know.”

I invite friends to go to the Have A Nice Day events because the venue is usually a spot I want to check out. We get to do a creative and feel-good activity while sipping on a beverage of choice and catching up.

“An artist I am not, and so when Jess invited me to my first event I was nervous and feeling the pressure to produce these amazing sleeves. What pish posh! That first event drew me back time and again because I realized it was about more than “professionalism” of the art.

It’s about sharing a message that you think you’d one day want to see when you need a little boost of positivity.

It’s also about hanging out for a couple of hours with some really cool people. And then, the day I received a cup of coffee wrapped in one of these sleeves my heart jumped for joy and my entire day was made. Hmmm, so that’s kind of the feeling I’ve been giving others when they see my messages?”

“This project is a boost to the morale and economy of the community.

I feel such a connection to my community through the live events, where I can meet new people and see new venues. Not to mention the connection I feel seeing the creations shared by strangers on social media later! It shines a light on fabulous local businesses and the good of humanity. The Have A Nice Day Project has brought me such joy and comfort in my life. The world needs more people like Jess and more movements like Have A Nice Day!”

“The feeling of connection and community that I experience each time, keeps me coming back.

Over the years, I have participated in the Have a Nice Day Project multiple times. I enjoy the event being held in different locations each year and exposing me to neighborhood spots all over Baltimore city and an opportunity to experience the flavors of so many neighborhoods. There is something beautiful about being in a room full of people who are creating art on a humble coffee sleeve with the intention of brightening a stranger’s day. It is an eclectic community event that showcases the love in Baltimore.”

“This event is always such a joy…

It's a great opportunity to meet and spend time with other creative do-gooders in Baltimore. There's a low barrier to entry — you only need to be willing to give a couple of hours of time in pursuit of putting a smile on a stranger's face — and I always leave with ink-stained fingers, new friends, and a smile of my own.”

“This is one of the events I look forward to the most in Baltimore.

I meet up with friends and get to meet other creative individuals who are all there for the same goal — to make someone’s day a little brighter. It’s a do good feel good event that has a positive impact in Baltimore and beyond.
